I like to sew, I just don't do it very often. I usually have so many other projects going that I don't have time to sew, but this Christmas I made time. I found some super cute fleece and couldn't resist the opportunity to make matching PJ pants. Normally the kiddos get jammies on Christmas eve, but we gave them a week early so they could wear them to our ward (come in your PJ's) Christmas breakfast!

They are growing too fast! I'm trying to enjoy them through all the sibling quarrels, eye rolling, and other "my life is so hard" behavior! They are wonderfully imperfect kiddos and together we can grow. I learn from them and hopefully they will pick up a few good things from me, not just my many weaknesses! Sorry this post started out as a cute pic of Christmas jammies and then it got totally off topic. I guess Christmas does remind to see the blessings in our everyday moments! I hope you are enjoying your moments today!

I'm a Campaign manager

Well my darling oldest child came home last week and informed us that he was going to run for school historian. My first question was "what exactly does the school historian do?" his response, "I don't know, I think take pictures and stuff." Actually he was partially right, he will need to take pictures at school functions and keep a record of school activities. He would also be a member of the student council.

Well we spent much of the weekend brainstorming ideas (he had some pretty big ideas) then making campaign posters. I think I've had my fill of poster making for a while! Now he is writing his speech, I hope this is a positive experience for him irregardless of the outcome! He will do a great job, I hope he gets the chance!

Oh where has my little boy gone?

I went in before going to bed to check on Ty and turn off the fan (helps him go to sleep). I reached down in the dark to cover him up...no Ty. After opening the door to let in light and searching everywhere including in Emily's bed and under both beds I was stumped. We then began the search of the house Lonnie going one way and I the other. He was nowhere! I began to panic a little all the doors were still locked so he had to be in the house but where? I went back to the scene of the crime ((haha)) I turned on the light this time, still nothing but at least Em stayed asleep. Not in closet, not under the beds...oh wait I see little toes this time sticking out from behind the under bed drawer! I pulled the drawer out and there he was sleeping soundly on the floor, in the little niche behind the drawer!
Oh my beating heart...how much more is to come with this little man? He's only 2!

It's been a good summer, full of adventures. A part of me is a little sad to see it come to an end, but truly we were all ready to go back to a more scheduled lifestyle. This morning went pretty smoothly other than Logan was very concerned with being early so we stood on the playground (on this 90 degree sunny Monday) for about 20 minutes before they had the pledge of allegiance. Too warm... I don't think we'll be going that early tomorrow.
It's gonna be a good year, no moving, just enjoying life...I'm looking forward to it!

Tyler wasn't to be left out...he had to have his backpack too!

PS Summer adventures to be posted soon, just have to wrangle all the pics! Hopefully I'll have more time now!

Ethan's Baptism

I am a little behind in adding this post...but I finally got the pictures downloaded so here goes.

Ethan chose to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints...

on Saturday April 30, 2011.

What a sweet boy he is, so kind and imaginative. He was so grown up and thoughtful about all the things he felt that day. When I asked him how he felt when he came up out of the waters of baptism he said that he felt good and warm. He was smiling as only Ethan can... from ear to ear. The room was filled with family members who made the trek down to Las Vegas to be with him, it is nice that we live close enough now that we can be with family on these special occassions. He later wrote in an essay at school about his family, he said "I have lots of family and I know they love me a lot." I pray that he will remember the peace he felt this day so that he will be strong enough to face the trials in his life, that are certain in this world we live!

In fact that very day he was amazingly strong as he faced the trial of getting 8 stitches in his chin. While playing in the pool with cousins, one cousin jumped up and his head collided with Ethan's chin. I was able to keep my cool even though I really wanted to freak out, it was a very open gaping wound. Lonnie and I took him to the urgent care center where they got us in right away and sure enough said he needed stitches. The nurse was a little skeptical until I pulled the washcloth away and she had a look, she immediately left to get the doctor. I think it's because we were all so calm she thought there was no way it was very bad! ;)

It took approximately 1 hour for the doctor to stitch him up he was so strong, he layed there with his face covered up all except his chin. Lonnie and I held his hands and stroked his legs, but it was so hard to watch him have to go through this. Especially when those silent tears were rolling down his cheeks. He is not always the strongest kid when it comes to those kid bang ups and bruises- but today he was stronger than most adults, the doctor could not get over how well he did! Yeah Ethan! Sorry your first trial came so soon.

I am so grateful to have Ethan in our family he has a sweet soft heart, and is a joy to have around. Thank you to my Father in Heaven for trusting us with this sweet little man. (As well as the other 3 wonderfully imperfect kiddos)

We did something crazy this weekend...a last minute roadtrip! Yesterday morning we decided to hop in the car and drive to see my sister in a musical last night! She lives in central California so it was a bit of a drive....but she was so excited and surprised it was totally worth it!

Now today we are headed back home to Vegas...lots of hours in the car in a 2 day period. But the kids have been amazing they have been cooperating and playing so well. I had to add this little post and pic so I would remember this moment!

Red rock canyon

Last weekend we took a quick trip up to red rock canyon. We will definitely have to go back again... We weren't able to do much hiking as the kids had been sick that week and were a little tired. They wanted to hike more but they were glad we hadn't when we turned around to head back to the car.

Ice storm 2011

Well we have had quite the winter weather this week. Almost an inch of ice, then 2-3 inches of sleet on top of it! I am feeling so blessed to have a nice warm home and a garage so my car wasn't coated with ice!

However...

While working in the storage room tonight we stumbled upon my old drill team costume. Emily had to put the whole ensemble on, Ethan was only jealous of the headdress. He wanted a turn at being the Indian. As soon as it was on his head-- up popped the imaginary bow, hilarious the imagination that kid has.

Wow I had forgotten how ugly these costumes are, does anyone know if they still wear these? We begged for a new style but were always given the denial, because they were a school tradition.

Moving again!

This next step in our journey has been literally a trial of my faith. We have known since we moved to Illinois last May that we would ultimately be moving again to the Las Vegas Nevada area within the year. As daunting as it seemed to move twice in a one year span with our four children, we were most excited about the prospect of living close to our precious families once again. It has been almost five years since we moved eastward and our family has grown as have our children. It will be wonderful to see those we love more than once a year. That said, I didn't know just how hard it was going to be to do something simple like finding a house.

In November Lonnie and I flew out to the area and began our search, looking at many nice homes with a wonderful realtor who we really came to trust. (All blessings I didn't recognize at the time) We found a house that we loved made an offer and flew home. After 2 weeks of waiting we finally learned that we didn't have the highest bid on the home which was owned by a bank so we were back at the drawing board. But now we were thousands of miles away and had to rely on our gracious realtor's opinion along with lots and lots of pictures.

To try to shorten the story- we found so many wonderful homes making offers on each, only to find our (my) hopes dashed by losing out to higher offers or cash offers. I became very depressed and lets just say my faith in this exciting move was wavering a bit. However after a wonderful lesson in Relief Society one Sunday on scripture study I found a renewed strength. I turned to the Lord in study and prayer, and with His help and guidance I once again found the strength to push forward into our home search.

We found this home and one other but we were drawn to this one, it is not in the Henderson area where we were certain we wanted to be. It is on the south western side of Las Vegas in an area very near the mountains. We feel guided and blessed to have found this home and we are very excited to actually get to walk through the doors and see our new home. We will be leaving here in about 3 weeks, so we have much to prepare but we are blessed to feel the guidance of our Heavenly Father in this crazy leap of faith.

We may not be heading out to an unknown land where we will have to walk or carry our belongings in wagons, BUT I am feeling a little of what I imagine the pioneers felt. I am packing up our little family and heading out to a place unknown to me, and trusting in my Heavenly Father to guide us all along the way.

P.S. Our realtor called last night as she was at the home again and wanting to know if we had any more questions. After she answered them and was leaving the home she came outside to see a dozen kids playing in the cul-de-sac. She asked their ages and they were kind enough to tell her that they were 9, 6, 7, 5,10, and 3. Still brings tears to my eyes, I really wanted to find a neighborhood where our kids could play and make new friends....looks like Heavenly Father knows where we need to be much better than I do.

...but we had one anyway. The kids loved it! I admit it was beautiful, but it's always a lot of work to get everyone ready to play in it.

So our Christmas morning started earlier than we would have wished but we didn't think we could hold the kids off any longer. Logan was up at 2am saying he couldn't get back to sleep. We said, "uh dude go back to bed there is no way we are getting up now!" Then Emily was in and out of the bed several times- just too much excitement. So by 6:20am there was just no holding out any longer.

So Santa was good to the kiddos they each got something they loved. What a crazy day full of spoiling, by Mom & Dad, and Grandparents and siblings combined. Many games were enjoyed, toys played with, skinny snowman built, a couple of snowballs thrown, and a yummy dinner had by all.

But none of it was quite as sweet as our growing kiddos singing Christmas carols arm in arm with each other (Ethan & Emily) As we read the Christmas story last night and sang many of the Christmas Hymns is was definitely a moment to remember one that brought tears to my eyes. I'm wishing I had more than just a mental picture to remember it by.

I am so grateful for the blessed life I get to live each and everyday.

So as I contemplate my gratitude for the gift of our Savior Jesus Christ this Christmas season- I am also grateful for the gift of Family & Friends as well!

Choo choo tree

Well we put our Christmas tree up this week and we quickly decided we needed a distraction for Tyler. A friend once told me they put a train around their tree and it entertained the little ones enough to leave the tree alone. We thought we would try it too!

We pulled out the geotrax trains that we've had since Logan was little. Ty was elated! He hasn't stopped playing with it since! It's almost as if the tree doesn't exist. It's so fun to watch him he will just crouch down and watch and wait until it comes around the tree.
It's so funny when they get stuck he will run over and pull on you and point to the train and say brrmm brrmm.

Love watching this little man explore the world, so grateful to have a little one in our house! Especially with his fun brothers and sister who adore him too!

2nd grade field trip

Today I went with Ethan and his class to The St. Louis childrens museum and the spaghetti factory. It was fun to be with Ethan and his friends. He is a fun easy going kid that seems to get along with everyone. I really enjoyed seeing him play and have fun with so many different kiddos. It was a blessed day!

So I thought I would share a few moments of mommy joy the first picture is of Ty I was at hobby lobby( my new favorite store) and I had my back to the cart when I turned around Ty flashed me this cute smile, he was so proud of himself for getting this boa off the rack and putting it on. I think I got off easy- next time I shouldn't park him so close to anything that tempting -but I had to snap a quick pic...

The next one is of the kiddos tonight we found this little carousel in our mall and we couldn't resist taking a spin...

I just thought I'd better do a better job of documenting my joyful moments because I forget them too quickly. They seem to get overshadowed by the crazy ones- love these kiddos!

Aloha Hawaii!

Last night was our last full night on this beautiful island and we were blessed with another beautiful sunset! Today we are headed to the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor. We can't leave without paying tribute to those who gave their lives to defend this beautiful country we are so blessed to be a part of!

It's been a fabulous vacation, but we are excited to see our kiddos. We fly all night and will be home by tomorrow afternoon.

Well I sure have been enjoying the R & R of this vacation. We haven't rushed any where, and we have just taken each day one at a time. What a wonderful break it has been. I am certain my niece Katy who's got all our kids will be needing her own vacation when we get home. Life is just hectic when you have 4 busy little bodies to care for! Lonnie and I really appreciate her for making this vacation possible!

Polynesia

We spent the day touring the Polynesian cultural center. With lifelike replicas of island living. It was very interesting. We ended the day with a Hawaiian luau dinner followed by an amazing live show! We are having such a good time, but everywhere I look I am reminded of my babies at home and I miss them and want to share this experience with them too...someday we will bring them --they will love it!

We spent the morning at Waimanelo beach. We found a great shady spot at a high point on the beach. With a fabulous view and some perfect boogie boarding waves. Lonnie joined Hawaiians of all ages - male and female to enjoy the waves. I chose to enjoy the view and the weather.

Conference & Hawaii too

Well we started our morning by watching conference on the laptop. Then we decided to take a drive we stopped at a north shore beach and listened to the wonderful 2nd session while sitting on the beach watching kite surfers. Amazing the opportunities technology offers us. We definitly had our cake and ate it too!
During our little drive it started raining even though the sun was out- it was awesome cause we had the top down on the jeep.
Along the way we stopped at the temple it was a beautiful. I am feeling so blessed to have been able to spend such a wonderful Sunday with my sweetheart!

Apple farm

Last week Emily had a field trip to an apple farm. Thanks to my niece Katy staying with Ty I actually got to go with Em. It was a lot of fun to get to enjoy a little one on one time with my girl. We got to pick our own apples. After a quick wagon ride back the kids got to play and visit the petting zoo. I appreciated this chance to be with my little girl even though the bus ride was a little bumpy!

I am so blessed!

Sometimes I find myself getting frustrated with the monotonous tasks motherhood keeps throwing in my face!!!
BUT today is a new day! Even though the dishes and laundry still need to get done -- and my kids probably won't say thank you for the clean clothes ( that they must put away)-- it doesn't matter!

My Heavenly Father loves me and appreciates me and has richly blessed me! Today will be a better day because I am choosing to remember to be grateful!!!

What a mess!

Today I let Ty go at a cup of baby food by himself and he had a blast being a big boy with his spoon. I walked out of the room for a minute and I came back to him shampooing his hair with the stuff. He was so proud. I ended up hosing his head and hands off in the sink because the rest of him was spotless believe it or not. He wasn't pleased with that part at all !

Logan is nine.

This week our Logan turned nine years old. Wow - nine years of parenting and four kids later we are still just figuring things out as we go along. As kids go we feel pretty blessed. Logan is so helpful, and kind. Definitely not perfect but we are so grateful for this big kid with a big heart. He is getting so wise and I love to hear his comments- so witty. Just this morning we were leaving for his

baseball practice he ran back inside the house to get his baseball bag and after putting Ty in his seat I realized I left the keys in the house and headed back in as he was coming out. I said to jump in the car I would be right back I forgot the keys. His reply, " I guess we both forgot the most obvious things!"

I am trying to make the most of this snowy situation! I just came in from helping the kiddos build this snow fort. I really was just going to get them started- and come back in but I started shoveling the drive and filling up their boxes before I knew it they had really made some progress, so I got caught up in their excitement and couldn't quit. Even though it was pretty chilly out there was no talking these kiddos out of playing in the snow today. Even though they were disappointed at the loss of their sledding tube they were just happy to dig in the white stuff for snow boulders. It's been kind of fun to have a couple of days to just hang out, but it will be nice for school to get going again! I'll be honest I hid in the laundry room for a while folding laundry to just have a few moments of alone time- that's desperate!

Day one or two?...

We arrived in New Orleans after a couple of days of driving. Tired of the car we walked to the riverfront for dinner. It was a large mall overlooking the river, by the time we got to the end and had to walk back we had some pretty tired kids! Hopefully they will be very tired and go to sleep even though they are excited to get on the ship tomorrow. There was a smaller German cruise ship docked and it made us all a little more excited to continue this adventure tomorrow.

Fall festival

The kids took me to the school fall festival, haha!! No really we volunteered at a game for a half hour-- the real reason we were there! But then we walked around played some games and the kids insisted in waiting in the big long line for these fun balloon hats--30 minutes later they walk away happy and pleased with their cool balloon creations. It was probably the most patient I have ever seen them. I, however kept asking are you sure you want to wait?

A woobie?

Our little man will have nothing to do with a binky, but has attached himself to these fuzzy blankets. I have so far been able to keep him happy with several different blankets as long as they feel the same. They get nasty quick so I was determined to be able to have several so there could hopefully always be a clean one!

Where to begin...

It has been so long since I have posted I don't know where to begin. I keep feeling like I need to catch up - which hopefully I will but today I am just going to post a couple of pictures of our rapidly growing adorable baby boy.
He has been army crawling for 2 months now but has recently started trying to crawl for real. He is certain he wants to be bigger. Because he is so strong he will pull himself to almost standing but with out the coordination he topples over. I keep telling him he is just too little, but he won't listen.

Ethan turned six and celebrated the day with spiderman party, here he is with his buddies shooting "spidy web" at targets. It was a fun day I can't believe he is six.

What a fun an energetic boy Ethan is, with so much excitement for everyday life.

Here is when Tyler was tiny enough to fit all snuggly down inside this baby carrier, I think he actually fit using it like this only twice.

Logan has always loved babies and with each new little brother or sister he has always had a special bond with them--so gentle and thoughtful of their needs.

Oh how I love to watch my precious baby sleep, so peaceful and cuddly!

Baptism and Blessing, better late than never!

Logan chose this day to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was a wonderful day so crazy and full of excitement and anticipation. With a new baby in the house timing was behind but the moment we sat down for the baptismal service I felt this peace wash over me. I embraced the moment and just enjoyed sitting next to my little boy who was not so little any more. We listened to both of his wonderful Grandfathers speak and share with him their knowledge of the gospel plan and how it begins with baptism and being confirmed with the holy ghost .Then I blinked back tears as I watched my sweet husband baptize and confirm our Logan. I hope that he will remember the sweet spirit that was there that day! The room was filled with wonderful family and friends each one so supportive and loving.

Logan chose to share his special day with his precious baby brother, at the end of the meeting Lonnie gave Tyler a special blessing in which he gave him a name and a blessing of strength and courage to become what the Lord would have him be.

Well I had a doctors appointment today and she was surprised that I was 4cm and not in active labor, so she scheduled us to go in tomorrow at 6am to break the water and get this going before baby gets any bigger! Unless of course something happens sooner! So I promise to keep you all posted but so far no news is good news! April 14th is a good day for a birthday it is my brother Devins' birthday!

Well our Logan is eight I can't believe it! Seems like yesterday they were handing us our sweet little bundle and now he's such a grown up boy! Next month he is getting baptized when all the Grandma's and Grandpa's visit. We celebrated his big day with 10 of his friends and a whole pile of Lego's. It was a crazy couple of hours but they had a great time!

A couple of weeks ago Lonnie was able to come home early on a saturday, so we packed a

picnic and the kite and took the clan to the park. It was a pretty breezy day-- better for kite flying than picnicking but we had fun nevertheless. It has been too long since we just were able to enjoy hanging out together. We are really enjoying the spring weather! I am looking forward to more warmer weather so we can enjoy more days like this!

In the last few weeks there have been a few moments that I have been meaning to record so my failing memory won't lose them. First I am sharing this sweet photo of our girl because it captures her so well. She is so completely content to sit and color but if she can snuggle with her pup at the same time it is twice as nice.

I am so grateful that she was sent to our little family she brings so much balance to our rough and tumble days. Don't get me wrong she can hold her own, but she just gives the chance to remember my gentler side.

For example the other night we were doing our usual bedtime routine and I was tired as always, trying to hurry through the usual routine when she scooted over in her bed and said, "mommy do you want to lay by me?" How could I resist such as sweet request... So I laid down beside her and sang her another song, I was about to get up when I decided to tell her about how happy I was when she came into our family---I told her the story of when she was born and her sweet little reply was this..." mommy you make my heart feel warm!"

This after a long day of what I am certain was full of mommy mistakes, did wonders for my soul!

I love what I do and I am so grateful that I have been given this amazing opportunity!

Make a Smilebox postcard

Living in Kentucky is a little different than Idaho where I grew up. They just don't get a lot of snow here! So Monday started with a half of inch of snow-- of course they cancelled school because we can't drive with the roads in such a terrible condition! HAHA then Tuesday followed with about 3-4 inches of snow which of course can't possibly go to school then! Then Tuesday night the freezing rain started to fall, by morning we had between a half inch to 3/4 inches of ice coating everything. Wednesday morning the power turned off at about 6:30am. The trees and power lines were just coated and if the ice wasn't breaking the power lines falling trees were. We turned on the gas fireplace and had a very nice quiet day without all the normal distractions, Lonnie stayed home and the kids loved having him around to make projects with and play with. Tony, Stacie, and the kids came over to spend the night because we had the fireplace to keep things a little warmer. We cooked dinner on the camp stove and tucked everyone in pretty early and snuggled under our covers. By morning we it was a little chill but not too bad it was 62 degrees in the house. After another camp stove breakfast we listened to the radio and they were saying that the power could be out anywhere from 6- 10 days. We decided we should find a generator to help us make it through this power outage. We finally found some in Cincinnati (1 hour north) So we loaded everyone up and went for a day trip. We got 2 generators and had some lunch, and headed home we finally made it home by about 5:30pm. We got home and the power was actually back on--yeah! We are just glad that we can be prepared for anything that comes in the future. So the eventful week is now wrapping up and we are headed back to more normal things for Monday-- back to school and other happy thoughts. Of course until the snow that is supposed to come in on Tuesday! I guess we will just have to go to school all summer!

A snow day in Kentucky!

This was our second snow day in a row, yesterday was pretty pathetic we had about 1/2 inch of snow, but Kentucky is a different world when it comes to dealing with snow. Today however we woke up to about 5 inches this morning. Finally enough snow to reasonably call a snow day-- actually enough to play in. We enjoyed sledding down our neighbors hill in their back yard and then she invited us in for some yummy hot cocoa.

School is already cancelled for tomorrow because it is currently raining and it is creating a nice layer of ice over everything. The kids are loving it!

We got a surprise visit from Santa at our ward Christmas party. Ethan and Logan got right in there to tell him what they wanted for Christmas, but Emily wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. She was clinging to Lonnie and wouldn't even consider it. Then when all the kids cleared out and he was getting ready to leave that she was willing to go over-- not to sit on his lap but to ask him for the candy cane shape container of bubbles. She got close enough to ask but would not sit on his lap. An intersting side note today we were at the boys school for all the Christmas festivities and their mascot was walking around (a leopard) She almost ran up to him to say hi and was not shy about giving him a great big hug--go figure? I guess to Emily the man in the big red suit is much scarier than a leopard.

A baby who likes to suck their thumb!

We were a little worried that Emily was going to be upset because she has been very adamant that it was a girl. So we had the kids unwrap a present that had the ultrasound picture in it, a baby doll dressed in blue, and some blue booties. Even with all the blue it still took them a minute to figure it out. Emily seemed to care more about the "boy doll" than anything else. We'll just have to see if she really understands. The boys were very happy with the idea of another brother. Lonnie and I are just happy that He looks healthy and that Emily did not react negatively to the news of a little brother coming her way!

Time Out for Women

Friday and Saturday I was able to take off and attend Time out for Women in Nashville with some of my Kentucky Girls. We went down Friday night and attended an evening session then stayed over for a wonderful day on Saturday. Many messages were given that uplifted and strengthened me... one of the more memorable messages was that "the gospel of Jesus Christ is not insurance against pain, it is resource in event of pain. (Carlfred Broderick-Uses of Adversity) A lot of wonderful music was to be had by one of my favorite artists Hilary Weeks. She made me cry more than once. It was a wonderful and uplifting time. Now I face a new week and I hope to be able to remember the emotions and appreciation for my role as a mother that I felt this weekend. To all you mothers out there remember-- Believe in what you are doing, Believe in Who you are!

In all of the craziness of the weekend I am just now getting these photos put up we had some cute little kiddos though, don't ya think? We had two nights of fun with a Trunk or Treat and Chili dinner on Thursday and then perusing the neighborhood Friday, all in all we ended up with way too much candy. A Couple of weeks ago I saved this little bunny from our neighbors cat. I didn't know rabbits made any sounds but this tiny one sure squealed very loudly when our neighbors cat had it by the neck. I was sitting on the porch reading after the boys left on the bus, I looked up to see a cat with a tiny little bunny in his mouth. I chased him down and the cat dropped it, I scooped him up to make sure he was okay, a little scratched up but nothing terrible. It was then that Emily woke up and came out to find me. After the bunny calmed down for a minute she sat and held it for a long while. It took some convincing but I finally talked her into finding the bunny a safe place to call home. We walked behind our house and found a little grove of trees and set it free. She was sad for a while and asked all day if we could go say back and say hi to the bunny.

Lonnie had been growing a goatee and mustache for several weeks, and I think he got tired of my little pecking kisses because I am not so fond of furry kisses. Well for whatever reason he decided to cut it I was very glad until he came out of the bathroom with this thing! Ugh-ly!

I am so grateful that he was just teasing and finished shaving it off. It was hard enough looking at him to take this photo, he just looked so completely unlike my gorgeous guy it gave me the shivers. Any way he is back to the clean shaven look these days and I am really enjoying having my guy back! Just thought I would share the shivers with ya'll.

Buddy Walk 2008

We joined our good friends Rhonda & Ryan Richins and their daughter-- Kendall for the 2008 Buddy walk. Kendall and her little brother were both born with an extra chromosome, and they have found a wonderful support system from the down syndrome of louisville center. We walked this year to honor and support Kendall and in memory of precious little Kallen who despite his many health problems, fought and lived for 105 days.

Our family really enjoyed being there with our friends and helping to support this great cause. There were over 70 people on the Special K (K for Kendall and Kallen) team alone. What a great turnout! Thanks for letting us be a part of something great!

There were hundreds maybe thousands of people there walking and they think that they will raise almost $200,000 this year.

What an exciting thing to be a part of! Go Kendall!

Crazy Winds from hurricane Ike!

We had a very windy Sunday yesterday we went to church and had our entire block of meetings without the benefit of electricity. It was kind of interesting to do it a little differently than normal. It got a little warm during Sacrament meeting but with the open windows in the classrooms the "breeze" cooled us off.

After church we headed home to find our house without power as well, so we pulled the camp stove out and made dinner roughing it style. After dinner the doorbell rang and it was our good friends Ben & Renee Sisloff they came to tell us about the tree that fell in their backyard. We had just finished inspecting our wooden swingset which had been pushed about 8 inches due to high winds. We later found that gust were measured at the airport at 75 mph.

We decide to walk over and see the tree at the Sisloffs and found Neal & Cindy (the mom dad) outside taking pics of the damage. Wow it was crazy! The biggest & strongest looking tree in their yard had come crashing into the back of their house taking out the deck and damaging some windows and the edge of the roof. This is probably the tree you would never expect to fall it looked so strong. However it had grown to a massage height all the while it was growing it sat atop of a bed of rock. This massive tree had roots only about 16-18 inches deep.

Luckily nobody was at home when it happened and the damage to their home didn't make it unlivable. Here are a few pics to give you one angle of the damage.

Camping in Kentucky!

We decide to spend Labor Day Weekend camping this year. We took the whole family including the dog to a Lake about 90 miles south of Louisville. Nolin lake turned out to be a great place to boat and we enjoyed being so close to the water. However it was very hot and humid making sleeping under the stars not quite as refreshing as when you go camping in the west. The kids didn't seemed to be phased at all by the heat. They just had a great time, they loved the fishing , boating, and playing in the tent.

We all enjoyed an excursion to Mammoth Cave-- It is the worlds longest cave and we just saw a little tiny portion of it but what we saw was very refreshing. the temperature year round is about 54 degrees. It was amazing as we walked around the corner to the steps down to the cave and we could feel this rush of cool air. It was interesting to head deep into the earth and come into this massive room of rock. We all really enjoyed this part of the trip it was hard to leave the cool air of the cave and head back to our hot campsite.

It was great having Tony, Stacie, and the kids with us. We took turns making dinner and not only did Stacie make a great dinner but she made a yummy chocolate cherry dessert to top it off! We hope they enjoyed the trip as much as we did.

We gained a renewed appreciation for the comforts of home!

First day of school!

Once I finally got Ethan to wake up he was very excited about the day finally being here. It did take me a little coaxing to get those eyes open. Logan on the other hand popped right out of bed when the alarm ( something he has wanted since he started kindergarten) went off and immediately started getting ready! Ethan just pulled the covers over his head.
Ethan was so excited to be one of the big kids I could hardly get his attention to take a couple of pictures. Below is a picture with our good friends Ben and Renee Sisloff.

Our Trip to Nashville

What a marvelous adventure we had on this trip with Grandma & Grandma Mecham. We had no idea how "Grand" this trip would be. We stayed at the Gaylord Opryland hotel. It had several indoor gardens, one had a small river running around it, with a mini- city in the center of it. This was the most recent addition called the Delta atrium, the pictures just don't do it justice. We had a great time, not only was the hotel quite amazing, but it was next to a large mall with many adventures there as well. We couldn't do everything so we chose the Aquarium restaraunt and the Stingray Reef (with carousel or carriages as Emily called them) This was an especially fun find. Not a very expensive one either, which made it even better. Well when it was time to be done-- it was a sad moment not only had we had a great time with Grandma & Grandpa, but it was an amazing place to be. Thanks for inviting us along on your adventure, it is one we won't forget.

Yes...We got a boat!

We did it, we have wanted it for a very long time, so when we found this boat it wasn't a very hard decision. We bought it from a guy who had hurt his knee and could no longer wakeboard. He needed his garage back and was pretty motivated to sell it. Lonnie decided to send me to check the boat out while he was at work. It was in Lexington (about an hour away) He said if it looks as good as the pictures just get it. Needless to say I found this idea very stressful, I didn't want to be the one to make the decision. But I did it any way--I definitely breathed a sigh of relief as I took the above picture--the boat worked and worked pretty well for a 12 year old boat. It is a Bryant boat, one of the things we really like about it is that it is quite deep--Good for keeping kids inside the boat on quick turns. We weren't really looking for one with a wakeboard tower but it is nice when it comes time for the guys to wake board. But it does complicate our desire to put the boat in the garage. Any way the kids are in Heaven they want to go outside and just sit in the boat in the driveway. When it comes time to jump in the boat and go it is helping us practice taking turns. They all love to go for a ride in the tube. We feel very blessed to be able to enjoy this boat with all our family and friends. We hope to be able to share the fun with others for many years to come!

Our Trip to Utah

Where to begin we had so much fun in Utah it was a whirlwind ten days. We spent the first 2 days with Great Grandma & Grandpa Wayment and the Warren Crew. Thanks (G&G Wayment) for taking us all to the dinosaur park that was so fun to see all the cousins running and playing-- We practically had to drag them away. It was wonderful to see those we hadn't in so long.

We promise it won't be that long again.

Then it was on to the farm in Roosevelt. This is our kids "happy place" they never want to leave the horses and farming. Not to mention the swing ,the trampoline, and uncle Wayne's 4 wheeler, and most importantly Grandpa & Grandma spoiling them every time we turned around. With wonderful goodies and so many wonderful people who wouldn't find this their happy place!

If this wasn't enough we headed to the cabin for more fishing, boating, and relaxing fun! It's a wonderful place that we can all be together comfortably and enjoy precious moments together. Thanks for making this a tradition!

Then we wrapped the time up with a weekend with Devin, Camille, Connor, Janae, and Jeremy. The Quigley side. We enjoyed a little shopping, swimming, and had quite the adventure thanks to our wonderful cousin Katrina. She got us a great deal, and we all got a chance to play on the FlowRider ( this is like a permanent wave that you can surf or boogie board on). Even Emily played in the water a little since it was her birthday. Be sure to check out the pictures I am including them as well.

We had a blast this is just a brief synopsis of our fun! But in spite of it all we were kind of ready to come home. We were literally having too much fun! We needed to sleep in our own beds and get a little more rest. So we will be ready for next time!

As far as the pictures go I have sat here and tried to decide which ones to put on and i can't so I am going to make a couple of slide shows they are all so cute i want to share-- so the slideshows are coming, but I gotta help put the kids to bed first...

Saturday some friends invited us to go boating with them. We all brought food and had a great time together. The kids all loved being in the boat--being in the water--being on the tube! You name it they had a blast! Lonnie and I really enjoyed it too! All three "boys" went for a long ride on the tube, I was exhausted just watching Lonnie with a boy on each side. Then Emily wanted to go and of course, that means it is my turn. Thankfully it wasn't to long before Emily was "all done" but she still had fun. When they stopped the boat to pull us in she was quite upset because she wanted to jump back into the water. I am not sure how it happened but our kids are such water fanatics, they just can't get enough of the stuff!

Anyhow we had a great time, Thanks again to the Gremmerts who put the whole shindig together--You Rock!

Cicadas invade us

We have been educating ourselves about these bugs over the last 3-4 weeks since we have been over taken by them. They are so loud and there are so many of them that when you drive down the freeway, windows up, and a/c on you can still hear the constant hum. the kids have become more comfortable with them and I took a few photos of their cicada hunt today. Notice our blossoming magnolia tree, it is so fragrant. The bugs are big here but we still love Kentucky. I am grateful that they won't last forever. There seem to be fewer every day, but still seem to be everywhere. Even though they are very annoying they are very interesting. They hibernate under ground for 13-17 years and then they come out and lay their eggs. At least this is the first summer we have had to deal with them and it will probably be the last. Here are a few pics...

Kentucky Horse Park

Over the Memorial day weekend we took a little trip to Lexington to the Kentucky Horse park the kids had a blast they had several horse demonstrations throughout the day. In between each of the shows we either played at their park, or ate, oh yeah and they went on pony rides too. Here are a few photos of our day, we had a pretty great day with our pretty great kids. We haven't had a "just for fun" day in a while-- it was long over due. The weather was great and it waited until we were leaving to start raining.

It has been a busy spring around our house. Ethan & Logan are both playing Little League baseball, which translates to sometimes 4 games a week. Not only that we have had Spring year end performances for both boys and Ethan also had his Pre-K graduation. I sent you a clip of Logan's singing -- the video is terrible but if you know it is Logan he is in the top right corner in a blue and orange stripe shirt. I also have one from Ethan but his isn't loading well, so you'll have to make due with a cute graduation photo. I can't believe how these kids are growing. Next year Ethan goes to kindergarten, Logan to 2nd grade and Emily to preschool. Life is flashing before my eyes. My Dad always used to say when I was a kid that the older you get the faster time goes, I now understand what he was saying. Anyway we love and miss you all and I will send more of our adventures soon!

Our Cruise

We had a blast on our cruise, and we wanted to share some of our pictures with you! We really enjoyed the food, you can tell by some of the pictures! The people at our table were great, we really enjoyed getting to know them! We felt extremely spoiled to have our own deck and spent many hours out there reading and relaxing. Our first day was at sea and we explored a lot, and went rock climbing. Our first stop was Labadee, Haiti --There we mostly just relaxed on the beach and found some shells. Next we went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica--There we climbed the Dunns River Falls it was very cool. Our next stop was the Grand Cayman Islands-- Here we got to try "Snuba" ( a cross between snorkeling and scuba). We weren't expecting it but our excursion was to swim with the stingrays. It was very cool and strange to have those large animals swim right past you and when they brushed my skin I couldn't help but jump. Our last stop was in Cozumel, Mexico-- Here we did some snorkeling and more beach time. Our last day on the ship was at sea so we went ice skating and ate some more. The week flew by, it was all over to fast. That said we were excited to come home and see our kids! We are so grateful to Patsy & Stacy (and Tony & Stacie) without their support and willingness to take care of our kids this wonderful trip would not have been possible. Friday morning they actually cancelled school before it started snowing, because of the "impending" storm. I kind of rolled my eyes and said we'll see... It started snowing at about 8 am and it has been snowing off and on since then. It is still snowing and I think our latest measurement is at 10.25 inches. The people here get worked up about that kind of snow. This morning we went outside to play in it, we ended up at our friends house sledding in their backyard. It was a lot of fun but the snow was coming down pretty hard so we only stayed out for about an hour. It made us homesick for home and some real mountains for snowboarding on. Here are a few pics of some cute red faces having fun in the snow!

We did a little photo shoot the other day and took a ton of pictures they are pretty fun it was crazy trying to get three very independant kids to work with their Mom & Dad. I am going to try to add a slide show of a few of the pictures so you can see some of the process we had to go through.

Emily was the little princess as always wanting to be the center of attention as always, she has a pretty quirky/goofy side too!

Ethan is all about posing he pretty much said bring it on.

Logan now a "grown boy" is too big for all this silly picture stuff but after a little while we coaxed some fun out of him.

The wildlife is Restless!

Is anyone else out there wondering where in the world January went? The wildlife at our house is getting a little restless with cabin fever but otherwise all is well at our house.
We have had the usual colds and such but nothing to bad. We had one snow day with about an inch and a half of snow. I know silly huh! I don't think that school would have been cancelled if the had known it would stop snowing but it was still funny! Our big celebration this week is Emily and her decision to discard the pullups and go full force with the "princess panties". Yeah no more diapers at our house.
Well family we love and miss you all and I will try to be more in touch.

Welcome to my new blog page! My trial time ran out on the mac and I decided to give this a try first.

We just wanted to wish all our far away families a Merry Christmas! we wish we could be in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and California at the same time.

We had a wonderful Chrismas here in Kentucky, Lonnie's parents came to us this year because they wanted to spend time with their newest grandbaby Tony and Stacie's little Eric

We are celebrating today because After 2 days in the hospital little Eric came home today, and is doig much better There is not much you can do for RSV but he is coming right along. Patsy and Mark are here and we are really enjoying this visit. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we are looking forward to a nice relaxing evening.
